Course Details
A 2-day course, 6 hours per day (12 hours in total), delivered as a hands-on workshop on simulated documents with a capstone project. Beginner to Intermediate level, no AI background required. The course focuses on using AI as a tool for document, research and administrative work, not providing legal opinions in place of professionals, and results must always be verified. Learners take home a prompt library, an internal assistant (Custom GPT/Gem), document and contract templates, and a data governance framework with a review and PDPA checklist.
Day 1: AI for Documents, Contracts and Research

- An overview of generative AI in legal and contract work and what changes in the process
- AI use cases: drafting, contract summaries, research, communication and knowledge management
- Key scope: AI is a tool for document and research work, not providing legal opinions in place of professionals
- AI limits and risks in legal work: hallucinated citations and data confidentiality
Section 2: Prompts and Output Control for Legal Work
- A good prompt structure for legal work: role, context, data and output format
- Instructing AI to reference only the provided data and show reasoning so results are traceable
- Preventing hallucinated citations and setting verification every time before use
- Building a team prompt library for recurring work
Section 3: Drafting and Revising Legal Documents with AI

- Cautions on accuracy, completeness and review by professionals
- Workshop: draft or revise one document with AI plus a review mechanism
Section 4: Reading and Summarizing Contracts and Documents
- Uploading and reading long contracts and documents and summarizing the key points
- Helping flag points and clauses to check (in an assistive role) with a person always reviewing
- Comparing documents and finding differences between versions
- Workshop: summarize the key points and flag issues of a sample contract with AI
Section 5: Research and Information Summaries with AI
- Using AI to help with basic research and summaries, verifying sources every time
- Organizing information and preparing issue summaries for the team
- Caution: AI may create data or citations that do not exist; always verify against trusted sources

Day 2: Communication, Assistants, Knowledge and Automation
Section 6: Client Communication and Clear Explanation
- Using AI to help draft formal communication with clients and internal units
- Explaining complex legal matters and terms clearly to clients (based on correct data)
- Cautions on accuracy and not giving legal opinions beyond scope
- Workshop: draft one communication or explanation with AI plus review
Section 7: Internal Assistants and Legal Knowledge Base
- Building a Custom GPT or Gem as an internal assistant answering questions on templates, policies and guidelines
- Embedding documents and knowledge for consistent, controllable results
